LAURIE FREEMAN, PhD
People choose to consult with a therapist for a myriad of reasons. Perhaps you are going through a difficult life transition, managing a crisis, or you are coping with some other sort of discomfort in your life. If you are feeling distressed, depressed or anxious, a therapy consultation is a good place to begin to sort out what you need in order to feel more satisfied and energetic in your life.
My approach to therapy is informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples and Individuals (iceeft.com), as well as by EDT—The Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapies. Both approaches are experiential, which means that therapy focuses on your emotional experience rather than on descriptions of stories and events.
In general, these philosophies include the belief that by focusing on your inherent strengths, together we can figure out what obstacles are creating roadblocks to emotional health and vitality.
